The Baltimore Tunnel

When it was originally built in 1957, The Baltimore Harbor Tunnel was considered an engineering marvel. Ans is famous for being the 5th longest underwater vehicular tunnel in the world.

In 2020, US ChuteLining, a USPipelining affiliate, was selected to handle a $189 million-dollar renovation. The project was led by Tutor Perini (NYSE:TPC) and focused on the restoration of 14,000 linear feet of pipe. The care and precision that went into planning the restoration was of paramount importance to US ChuteLining. The team successfully restored the 6' diameter pressurized pipe making up the tunnel’s fire suppression system thereby increasing the safety of this treasured establishment.

Stretching over 1.4-mile under the Patapsco River, this four-lane tunnel is the main artery between major north/south highways and the thriving industrial section of Baltimore. Designated I-895,  the tunnel and approach roadways are approximately 18.5 miles in length.
